The SMLD is a public power utility located 10 miles NNE of Worcester,
Massachusetts in the Town of Sterling. Our primary building was originally the
Sterling High School. Presently we are in our ninety-eighth year of business and
we have more than 3,800 residential, commercial, municipal and industrial
customers.
Our customers are fed power through more than 160 miles of
distribution lines. Our power
supply consists of more than ten separate power agreements with Millstone III, Seabrook,
Integrys Energy Services, Wisconsin Energy Services, Stony Brook combined cycle units,
PASNY, ISONE Energy
Market, Carbolon Cogeneration, Baltic Mills Hydro, West Springfield Hydro and Mechanicsville Hydro.
We are a member of ISO New England and a wholesale aggregator of power
with power purchases from generation throughout New England and New York.

reliable, constant power at competitive rates.
