The Sterling Municipal Light Department (SMLD) has made bill paying a little easier and much more convenient by letting you pay your bill on-line, anytime, any day, 24 x 7. Choose Unipay Gold on-line to pay via ACH (electronic debit from your checking account) or by credit card (please note fees are determined by the credit card processor - fee schedule). Your payment information is protected with state-of-the-art industry encryption methods certified through VeriSign.

 

On-line payments are safe and convenient and help you to take advantage of our early-payment discount option.

  1. Click on the word “light” in the upper left under the word “Transactions:”

  2. You will be prompted to enter your account number.  You do not need to add the dash or following number; just the main acct number.

  3. Add the amount you wish to pay to your account.

  4. Enter your payment information (address, city, state, zip, phone and e-mail).

  5. Enter your payment method (bank routing number, account number and full name).

  6. Confirm your order.

  7. Sign up once on-line and in detail.  Each time thereafter, you simply enter your bill number and the amount you want to pay and we will send you an e-mail confirmation of your payment.

  1. The SMLD treats all customer information as proprietary and confidential information.

  2. Our SMLD Identity Theft Prevention Policy provides effective administrative, technical and physical safeguards for the protection of personal information.

  3. The SMLD will not disclose any nonpublic personal information collected on this site, except for the sole purpose of completing the transaction, which you have requested. 

  4. Account information is updated each night, so payments will not be reflected on-line until the next business day.

  5. If the payment is returned to the SMLD for insufficient funds in the bank account, a $25.00 fee will be charged.

  6. If the Web site is inoperable for any reason, payments should be made at 50 Main Street, Sterling, MA 01564.

Additionally the Town Of Sterling and the Sterling Fire Department both use this system.  So while you are paying your dog license, excise tax, property tax, vital records request or fire burning permits, you can pay your electric utility bill too.  We hope that you find this time-management solution convenient.
